My take on the “farcical” excuse - as you call it - is that the British knew there would be no deniability, in the circumstances, so they used the same excuse the Russian guys used in Salisbury - we are tourists. Kind of a sarcastic joke. The problem lies in what they were doing. If they were just observing the deployment and use of weapons supplied by the UK, wearing their British uniforms and so on, then the Russians might have a right to be annoyed but can’t accuse the Brits of causing harm. Everybody does it. I’m sure there are Chinese military people in Pakistan and so on. In any case what are Russian forces doing occupying parts of Ukraine and fighting the UAF? Isn’t that in breach of international law? So it’s a bit precious to accuse the Brits of breaking Russian domestic laws. But that’s the way it works, we all understand. The Brits will be released at some stage.
This is such an important story and even if the western media challenges it, it is worth reporting on as a claim and then they should debunk it - by simply posting a video message by the Colonels/officials named here.
