The kill swtch has already been activated. China banned REE exports to US MIC last April. They just reinforced and expanded it in Dec after US announced ＄11 B arms deal to Taiwan. The Busan truce was for China to suspend REE to the world for ALL REE exports to industry for 1yr. US had at least 15 yrs notice of REE supply chain vulnerbilities but choose to ignore it. The Greenland play is as shortsighted and idiotic as the Ukraine minerals deal and the Venezuelan oil confiscation. In all cases it would take massive infrastructure investment over decades before meaningful output and economic returns are realized. Plus w REE, the west simply does not have the expertise and industrial scale to create a REE refining processing industry in any thing resembling economic viability. So will the US govt fund the rebuilding of Venezuelan oil extraction infrastructure plus the replace the energy and communication infrastructure aleady built by China and simultaneously create from scratch the creation of Greenlands complete infrastructure while at same time building from scratc and subsidizing in perpetuity the REE refining processing industry in the US? Oh yeh at the same time building the Golden Dome missile defense system while also developing and building the new toys, 6th gen fighters, Trump battleships, hypersonics and dont forget a complete overhaul of the 1970s era nuclear strategic arms complex. I think the ambition is more Hollywood than reality.
